COVID-19 in the Vape Industry

COVID-19 and the vaping industry

The Worlds population are feeling the effects of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) including all Public facing businesses. All Vape businesses have been given expert guidance from the IBVTA and Herbaltides have been taking the precautionary measures and advice seriously to protect our customers and ensure that all vapers are able to continue to access our products and services, whilst avoiding unnecessary exposure and risk of further spread of the virus.

As with most media and headlines the Vaping industry seems to be a target for any situation whereby an attempt to blame Vaping as a result of such a pandemic is false information. Rosanna O’Connor, Director of Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs at Public Health England stated,

“Public Health England’s 2018 independent evidence review found that to date, there have been no identified health risks of passive vaping to bystanders. There is currently no evidence that coronavirus can be caught from exposure to e-cigarette vapour.”

Of course restrictions are put in place for many Public facing businesses. The same is said for Vaping shops and vape related businesses, the IBVTA has written an in-depth guide for its Members, demonstrating the responsible stance in the industry and what precautionary measures the industry as a whole should follow.

IBVTA COVID-19 guidance to its members

The IBVTA has given two main initiatives and are outlined as follows.

  1. The suspension of flavour testing and demo testing across all stores, Herbaltides have understandably ceased such practices across all three stores and for obvious reasons as to prevent cross-contamination between the general public.
  2. Strict sanitation around the set-up of vape devices and hardware.

General sanitisation in stores, lab and despatch have been stepped up to prevent contamination and spread of the virus. All staff members have a duty of care to the public, effective cleaning of hands between all activities including the use of Hand Sanitiser, Gloves and PPE have been introduced in our stores as an extra layer of protection. It is of paramount importance that we set a standard of good hygiene at all times, even more so than before the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Contact Surfaces:

All contact surfaces within our establishments that have any point of human contact are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised these include but not limited to Counter tops, Door handles, floors, cabinets, payment terminals, windows etc.

Restrictions on Staff Members:

All non public facing staff have restrictions in place. For example there are no more than 3 office staff at any one time at Herbaltides, technical operations members and Internet team are currently working from home to reduce any risk.

IBVTA

Supporting the industry is obviously of paramount importance to the IBVTA and their pro-active approach is very much welcomed by Herbaltides at this very confusing and uncertain set of events that the public and businesses are dealing with. At Herbaltides we will continue to take head and use any preventative measures in protecting both staff and customers alike.

We will continue to supply vaping goods while adapting our business to meet the demand of our customers, while doing our very best to help deter the spread of Coronavirus.
